The challenge of this brief was to find an environmental issue in my college and to solve it through design. Through research done over multiple weeks I recognized that sustainable fashion was an issue that not many students knew or cared about. The two main areas I wanted to tackle in this project were INSPIRATION and INFORMATION. My idea was to create a piece of design that addresses both of these topics. Therefore, I created Just Eye, a sustainable fashion magazine by students for students. It delivers useful information about sustainability, ethical production and many tips and tricks relating to shopping and garment care — this being the ‘Just’ part of the magazine. The other part is meant to inspire with beautiful imagery, fun colours and patterns, and a young design — therefore being the ‘Eye’ part of the magazine. Together they create a youthful and fun magazine, which, with its relatable content, speaks to students in a way they know best: young, light-hearted language, call-to-actions and a strong tie to social media.
